As a Christian entrepreneur, I’ve been wanting to share my perspective on some current events. Well, actually ongoing events….it’s not like racism is a new problem or like it’s going to change overnight. And quite honestly, my perspective doesn’t matter. But God’s perspective does and that’s what I’m most hoping to share. I don’t have anything new to add to the conversations that are happening and I don’t have all of the answers to the world’s problems. Hopefully I can just leave you with some truth from a different perspective with the goal of honouring the Lord with these words from my heart.

When I was thinking about this topic in recent days, immediately words popped into my mind with a tune I’ve known as long as I can remember: “Red, brown, yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight! Jesus loves the little children of the world!”
So many times since becoming an adult I’ve found myself appreciating the simple truths taught in such a clear way from the songs I learned as a child. “Jesus Loves Me”, “God Is So Good”, “O Be Careful Little Eyes”, and “Rolled Away” are just a few of the common kids’ songs that would do us all good to remember and apply to our daily lives!

I can’t find anywhere in Scripture that says it’s okay to treat someone differently because of the colour of their skin, even if we have preconceived ideas about people of that colour. God talks about wanting His people to be holy and to live in a way that is different from those who don’t know Him, but He never says to draw a line because of the amount of pigment He placed in a person’s skin.
Variety of colour is very important to me, both in business and in life! In building and maintaining a website, creating books and videos, promotional materials and other resources I have learned that there are far more colour combinations than I ever knew possible! It took me a few printings of my first book to get the colours just right so students wouldn’t mix up the orange and the red, or the red and purple, or the yellow and green. I also wanted to make sure the colours didn’t harshly clash with each other. Without all of the options I would have had a harder time getting exactly the combination I wanted in order to look cheery and appealing to the eyes of kids!

If there were no colour in the world, my books wouldn’t even exist! The method I’m creating uses colour to simplify the process of learning to play the piano for kids.
My personal viewpoint, as well as my business perspective, is that I do not treat people differently or choose my friends based on the colour of their skin. My belief is that God created everyone and used variety to do so, but we are fundamentally all people made in His image. I strive to choose friends based on their character, what’s inside their hearts. Joyfulnotes reaches out to customers anywhere, of any colour, if they are interested in the resources we provide.
May we all take time to ponder what we’re doing to examine our actions and teach the next generation how to agree with God that all people of every colour are precious in His sight!
Yes! We are all precious in His site! Every single person is formed lovingly in their mother’s wombs by God! God made us in a fearfully and wonderful way. Nobody should apologize for their race. God made us each uniquely.
