My Goals for Students
As a piano teacher I want to enable my students to reach several goals. At the first lesson I like to find out why my student wants to learn piano. I also find out if she has any specific goals they want to reach. A student’s parents will also be involved in this discussion so everyone knows where we are heading.
Some of my main goals for every student are as follows:
- Students will gain an appreciation and love for music!
- Students will want to learn more about music in the future.
- Students will learn the discipline that comes from establishing goals and regular practice.
- Students will gain self-confidence and professionalism in their demeanor.
- Students will find enjoyment in their pursuit of music.
Who Will I Teach?
Almost everyone! Currently I teach piano lessons to Level 6 RCM and flute lessons to Level 8 RCM. I have had the most experience with beginners in the past. It has been my privilege to teach students from ages 4 and up as well as those with special learning needs. If you are unsure if you or your child can learn, please contact me to see if lessons are possible!
What Opportunities Do I Include in My Studio?
Some of the learning opportunities I include are sight-reading, ear training, flashcards, participation in a local music festival and playing in studio recitals. As my students progress I also encourage (but do not require) using the Royal Conservatory of Music Examination system. I try to target each student’s needs and give them ways of learning that best help each one!
My current rate for teaching private piano or flute lessons is $20 per half hour lesson at my studio.
Payments are due at the first lesson of every month. I prefer bank transfers (or cheques) in order to maintain good records.
If you miss lessons without notifying me before the lesson that the student will be absent the lessons will not be rescheduled or refunded.
Sickness or Emergencies
In the case of sickness or emergencies, notify me as soon as possible that the student will be absent. I will determine whether a make-up lesson will be available.
Feel free to contact me for answers to any questions about me or my policies. Looking forward to seeing you and your student in my studio soon!
